Executive Summary

1. Longstanding workforce shortages in community child health (CCH) are having an adverse impact on waiting times and service delivery, leading to unacceptable delays for patients

2. Recruitment is improving but is not keeping pace with the growing demand for CCH services

3. A multifaceted approach is required to improve recruitment and retention to meet clinical demand.

4. The 水果派 (水果派) will support its members by implementing the action plan outlined in this workforce strategy, highlighting the current situation and arguing the strong case for enhancing and supporting CCH services.  It will work with and alongside other organisations e.g. the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, other Royal Colleges, service commissioners, providers and health education organisations to achieve its aims. 

The Strategy was endorsed by RCPCH in January 2020.
